How to Make a DIY Button Matching Game

Happy New Year! I’m glad to be back blogging after a nice break. We marked several things off our “to-do list” and I’ll be sharing more of that over the next few weeks. For today, I wanted to share this fun DIY gift that I made for some of the kiddos in our family.

What You’ll Need:

**amazon links are affiliate links

  • package of assorted buttons {similar}
  • cork or wood discs {cork discs are from Michaels, may be discontinued // wood discs from Amazon}
  • small to medium fabric bags {burlap from Michaels // similar from Amazon}
  • canvas tags {Michaels // similar from Amazon}
  • hot glue gun
  • permanent marker

How to:

1. Determine how many discs you will use and how many pairs that will create {I had 40 discs, so I made 20 pairs}.

2. Find the coordinating number {in my case, 20} pairs of buttons.

3. Glue each button to the center of a disc.

4. Let glue dry.

5. Place discs in fabric bags {I needed two 4×6 bags to hold 40 discs}.

6. Label the canvas tag with permanent marker and attach to bags.

I made three games for my son and his cousins as Christmas gifts. I think it would be fun to make some small sets {maybe 10 pairs each} for a unique party favor, too!
