A Garden Porch // Get the Look

Have you seen this Gardener’s Cottage from Country Living Magazine? There is so much that I love about this home {go check out the tour for yourself}; but today I’m focusing on the country-style, garden porch. I shared it via Facebook several weeks ago and have been using it as inspiration for our outdoor spaces.

Which — by the way — have you all had the most amazing weather the last week or two? It’s been beautiful here, in Kentucky. We’ve been cleaning, trimming, weeding… and starting a few of the outdoor projects we’ve got planned for this year {here’s a peek at the progress}.

Now, back to this garden porch… how do you get the look?

#1. Hang a collection of decorative plates and layer several on larger plates for additional depth and interest.

#2. Fill a vintage-style shelf with potted plants.

#3. Mix in pillows and cushions that echo the color scheme found in the hanging plates.

#4. Paint, using a bright color, a piece of furniture that was originally intended for indoors.

#5. Layer the floor coverings and bring in an unexpected color to create a casual, collected feel.

#6. Mix the color, textures and height of planters.

Speaking of Country Living Magazine, this weekend I’m heading back to the Country Living Fair in Nashville, TN. Let’s just say that I’ve been looking forward to it for months… and this garden porch plus sprucing up our deck and front porch have me writing a thorough shopping list. We’ll see what I find! I’ll try to share some photos form the fair on Instagram and Facebook, if you are interested {and click here to see what I bought in 2015}.

Are any of you heading to the Country Living Fair? What is on your shopping list?

Wish I had a full sized porch like that; it's beautiful.

Love your shopping selection, it's stylish as it is helpful. :)

Love this. I'm in the middle of decorating our front door area and this is perfect. I actually painted a chair and a cabinet to sit outside.

I just checked out your post! They look great. I've got a table I want to move outside and use as a bar/serving area that needs to be painted.

Me, too :) That is something I'm definitely considering for my space -- plus, they are so easy to find at flea markets.
