Home for Sale: Quick Curb Appeal

We are in the process of selling our first house and doing it DIY style too — as in For Sale By Owner (FSBO). This post is part of a series called, Home for Sale, in which I’ll share some of the details of our FSBO journey.

This spring I spent some time sharing how we’ve been teaching ourselves to garden. We pulled a lot of old plants out so that we could start anew, with plants we were familiar with {and that came with instructions}. We didn’t plant anything in our backyard flower bed because we intended to resurface our deck with ReStore — but then we found out we were moving, so we needed to fix our empty flower bed quickly!

Here’s how it was looking…

Clearly this wasn’t going to qualify as good curb appeal. A potential solution was to purchase some perennials or shrubs to fill in all the empty space, but that was going to be pricey. So, instead we decided to purchase some large clearance flower pots and some inexpensive annuals.

We still invested some money, but we can take all the flower pots with us when we move.

Since we purchased annuals, they’ve grown quickly and have lots of color. I think the pink and purple flowers look perfect with the blue planters {that also happen to match our herb planters}!

So, quick and easy, you can have beautiful curb appeal in a few hours!

Prior to selling a house, did you have to improve your curb appeal? What tips do you have for quick, easy improvements?
