I love to give — and receive — special Christmas ornaments. Our tree isn’t color coordinated and it doesn’t have a theme… but it is filled with meaningful ornaments. Hanging ornaments on the tree becomes a time of storytelling.
“Mommy got this angel her first Christmas.”
“Daddy and Mommy got this ornament in Disney — before we had you!”
“Nana made this ornament for you.”
etc.
Each ornament represents memories, vacations or family and friends; which creates a tree that is so much fun to decorate and enjoy through the holidays. Since it will be our baby girl’s 1st Christmas, she needed her first ornament to hang on the tree.

Yes — again with the Sculpey Clay — are you tired of it yet? It’s just so quick and easy to use {I’m NOT a patient crafter} which makes it an obvious choice for gift-making.
Supplies : DIY Baby’s First Christmas Ornament
Sculpey Clay
Rolling Pin
Star Cookie Cutter
Straw
Calendar Stamp Set {not pictured}
Fine-Tip Sharpie in 2 Colors
The instructions are the same as for the Stocking Markers, except you are using a different stamp. My stamp is one that I’ve had for years and I don’t know the brand name; but these calendar stamp sets are similar. Her birth date is in green sharpie, instead of black, to make it stand out.
Sculpey Clay doesn’t harden after baking like ceramics. It becomes more rigid; but it still has a bit of a rubber-y texture. This might be a pro or con depending on your desired outcome. In this application, I like that I can let her hold and hang her own ornament, without worrying that she’ll drop and break it.
What kind of ornaments do you hang on your tree? Do you have any favorite ornaments that encourage storytelling year after year?

This is such an easy and cute idea! I couldn't find anything I liked for my daughter's 3rd Xmas ornament and a star sounds ideal. I will make something similar inspired by your post. :)
