Personalized Wood Photo Holder
Supplies
- Walnut Hollow 10 Piece Whittler’s Kit
- Mitre Box with Saw
- Wood Stain
- Walnut Hollow Creative Woodburner Detailer
- Walnut Hollow HotStamps Alphabet Set
- Foam Brush + Rags
Instructions
The Walnut Hollow 10 Piece Whittler’s Kit includes 5 long wood blocks {approx. 4″ long}, and 5 short wood blocks {approx. 2″ long}. The photo stand is made using the long blocks, which means that each whittler’s kit will make 5 stands.
Begin by placing the long blocks into a mitre box. Use the 90-degree guide to saw a slit, approximately a 1/2″ into the wood.
If you haven’t used a mitre box before, it’s a nice tool to have on hand. It doesn’t require power, which makes it beginner-friendly for a DIY newbie.
Next, use the Walnut Hollow Creative Woodburner Detailer to personalize the photo stand. I used the letter “G” for our last name; but you could do a monogram, full name, or simply words like “Love” or “Smile!”
Finally, stain the wood. I apply stain with a foam brush because they are inexpensive and can be tossed in the trash. Use an old rag to remove the excess stain.
So simple.. and so stylish, right?! Plus, everyone has photos to display. So, this stocking stuffer is for guys and gals, young and old. To create a larger gift, gather several photo stands and tie them together with jute twine. Then, package the set with several sentimental photo prints.

These wooden stands are great for more than just photos. Display artwork or use it to hold business cards. Package it as a recipe stand and gift it with personalized recipe cards and a homemade cookie mix {you can even make a special leather gift tag to label the jar}.
