Do you love a deep navy? These 12 Navy Painted Furniture Makeovers will have you inspired to update an old furniture piece.
If I’m not careful, I’d choose to paint everything in my home navy. And buy all the navy things. I just love the color. So, needless to say, pulling together June’s Color of the Month has been especially enjoyable. If you love navy, too, I think you’ll find plenty of inspiration in these 12 Navy Painted Furniture Makeovers.
This month, I’m breaking up projects by furniture style. You’ll find that navy can work on many pieces — from old to new.
Note: As usual, I’ve included the name of the paint color {if available} below each photo. Click through to each blog {listed below each photo} to access details about the technique, finish, and paint brands.

Navy Painted Furniture Makeovers: Antique
Do you have a beautiful antique that is showing it’s age? It can be controversial to paint true antiques, but my advice is: go with your gut. If you don’t love the antique as-is, paint it!
It makes more sense to love the furniture in your home than to keep it in original condition simply because you feel guilty about painting an antique. Not convinced? Take a look at these makeovers.
Salvaged Inspirations | Dresser and Mirror | Vintage Velvet
At Home with the Ellingtons | China Cabinet | Coastal Blue
That Sweet Tea Life | Dresser and Mirror | Frozen Water
The Wood Spa | Chest of Drawers | Marine Blue
Navy Painted Furniture Makeovers: Mid Century
It can also be controversial to paint mid-century furniture. However, I find that I’m drawn to the lines of mid-century design; but not to the finish of mid-century furniture. I love straight, clean, lines; but I don’t like a mid-tone oak stain.
Therefore, painting mid-century furniture is a smart choice for my home. Again, go with your gut… choose items that you love… when you are Creating a Home.
Thirty Eighth Street | Modern Nightstands | Midnight Sky
The Wood Spa | Dresser | Coastal Blue
Navy Painted Furniture Makeovers: Transitional
Most of us own transitional furniture since it is found in many big-box stores. Transitional style is also easy to find at yard sales, consignment stores, and more. Often, when furniture is not solid wood, it is also transitional {though there is still plenty of transitional style furniture that is solid wood}. This is because it is a recent style, that is affordable, due to the widespread manufacturing of pressed wood products.
Most likely, it will be easier to decide to paint transitional furniture, since you won’t feel guilty about the piece being “too valuable.” So, if you are nervous about painting furniture, start with transitional style.
Craftivity Designs | Vanity | Ink Pad
Thirty Eighth Street | Buffet | Klein Blue
Craving Some Creativity | Nightstands | Midnight Blue

Which navy furniture makeover is your favorite? It’s hard to choose, but I especially love the dresser from Salvaged Inspirations and the buffet from Thirty Eighth Street.

I am dying to see the 2nd piece down (says Tattered Rabbit on it) I can't load it or get any information on it. Could you send it to me? I have just started a piece I am using Costal Blue on!

Jean - I'm so sorry! It looks like At Home with the Ellingtons (the Tattered Rabbit) no longer has their website live. I tried checking Instagram and Pinterest for either of those names, too, with no luck :(
