DIY Disney Vacation Ideas
I’m a big fan of incorporating crafts and DIY projects into our travels. It adds a personal touch to the vacation by creating extra memories and special souvenirs. For example:
- we love counting down to our Disney trip with this DIY Mickey Countdown,
- we’ve saved precious photos of our kids in this DIY Character Autograph Book,
- and we explored World Showcase with this fun DIY Passport.
Not only do these crafts help you engage creatively with your trip, but they provide fun ways to celebrate Disney magic before, during, and after your visit. Crafting brings an extra layer of anticipation, while also providing unique, homemade keepsakes that capture the spirit of your travels.
Like these other crafts, making Pop Century window decorations will generate excitement and anticipation for your family, too!
Skyliner-Themed Activities
Riding the Skyliner is a highlight of our stays at Pop Century. We’ve embraced it fully, loving it for travels to the parks, but also simply to grab coffee at Joffrey’s (located at the transfer station). Sometimes, we’ll even take it for a relaxing ride — without a specific destination!
In addition to making Skyliner-themed crafts, you can also play our favorite Skyliner Scavenger Hunt as you float through the skies; soaring over the Caribbean Beach Resort, alongside the Riviera Resort, and viewing the parks in the distance.

Step 2: Print and Cut the Gondolas
Print and cut out as many gondolas as you’d like from the printable file. Cut out the white space in the center of the gondola to leave enough space to place your photos.
Step 3: Select Photos
Choose photos of your family and friends – whoever is traveling with you! I recommend using close-up photos, which will fit well inside the gondola windows and are easier to see as people walk by the window.
Step 4: Print, Cut, and Attach the Photos
Print and cut out the people from your photos. Cut along their upper bodies and faces, so that it appears they are inside the Skyliner gondolas. Tape the people into the gondolas. Place the tape on the backside of the gondola so that it is not visible.
Step 5: Laminate the Gondolas
To protect the gondolas, and make the window decoration stiffer, laminate each one. Once laminated, cut out each completed gondola and punch a hole at the top it.
Step 6: String the Gondolas
String the gondolas onto yarn or twine, to replicate the look of the gondolas traveling along the Skyliner line.
Optional: Add Park Icons and Bus Transportation
If you’d like, add the park icons, too! For our window, we included the Tower of Terror and Epcot style templates along the Skyliner route (just like at Disney World!). Then, we printed the bus (with more family photos) for transportation to the Cinderella Castle and Animal Kingdom style templates.
