In February, while Lora and I were completing the YHL Thrift Store challenge, I found these cute jars with adorable aqua colored lids. I knew the color would be perfect for my home so I picked them up with plans to spruce them up!
I decided I would add knobs to the tops of the lids to give them more character—so off I went to Hobby Lobby in search of knobs. To add the knobs to the lids, you need to find ones that allow you to take the screw completely out giving you a smooth surface to glue to the lid. I found that majority of the options at Hobby Lobby did not fit what would work for this project. However, I was able to find some cute white knobs that worked perfectly.
After removing the screws from the knobs, I took a hot glue gun and began carefully gluing the knobs to the lids. I put the glue directly on the bottom of the knob and quickly placed it on the lid while pushing tightly to make sure it adhered.
I love the way this project turned out and how the springy aqua color brightens up a room! I really enjoy when I can take a thrift store find and add something to it to make it fit my style!
I’m not 100% sure what I want to hold in these jars as I have multiple ideas for them but I currently have baker’s twine, embroidery floss, and ribbon placed in them by my scrapbooking supplies.
You can do this project with any type of jar including pasta and pickle jars! Below are some pictures of similar projects that others have completed:
I love how something as simple as adding a knob can take a jar from boring to fabulous!
