Neutral Entry Way with Pops of Blue

A little over a month ago I shared the plan and inspiration for our Entry Way Makeover. It has come a long way since that “before” photo and we are loving the new space.

Our Entry Way is now full of color and personality, but totally functional too. I love it when a room looks like it was collected over time and that is exactly the way I feel about this space. Almost every piece has a little story behind it.

Just in case you forgot, this is what we started with:

Except for the lighting upgrade, we’ve completed everything that was in our plan! The lights have actually been purchased too, but they are a little bit of a “project” and we need to figure out a few things before we get them hung up.

We created a Gallery Wall filled with thrifted pieces, DIY art and mementos. All the color and personality makes me smile! We included some functional pieces in the gallery wall too — like a mirror for last minute makeup checks and a spot to hold our mail and keys.

Every Entry Way must have a spot to hang coats and bags, and I just love the punch of color that the navy tags give to each coat hook.

I actually hadn’t decided what color to paint the door or the rug until I started working on the Gallery Wall and saw that blues just kept popping up in all the art.

Our little guy has several special spots in this space. A little tin bucket labeled “stuff” holds accessories like hats, gloves, sunglasses and shoes. Eventually his little accessories will be too big for these buckets; but lets not think about him growing into a big boy just yet (tear).

We hang the art he makes at church on an upholstered bulletin board that is just his height. Then, when we head upstairs he likes to count the numbered steps.

And, of course, his sweet 1st Birthday photo is included in the Gallery Wall too.

But probably his favorite spot (and mine too!) is our Family Wall Calendar. {You might recognize the little Animal Push Pins from the Anthro Love series.} Mike and I spotted a similar calendar at a home show years ago and are so excited to have created one for our own home!

Projects included in the Entry Way Reveal:
Painted Rug
Numbered Steps
Painted Door
Family Wall Calendar
Gallery Wall

I hope you love the space! I know I’ve been super-excited to share it with you!
