How to Make a Mason Jar Planter from an Old Frame

In this post: Make a mason jar planter from a large frame to use indoors or outdoors. It’s an amazing before and after, that can be completed in an afternoon!

Hello, new friends!

Kelly here from North Country Nest. My soon-to-be husband {we’re making it official August 26!} and I are renovating our first house and sharing our experiences along the way. From knocking down walls to overhauling a bathroom and building it up from scratch, we’re tackling it all.

I am so excited to be hopping over to Lora’s space today and meeting you all! I am a BIG fan of her decor ideas and DIY projects. So, when she asked if I would share a project or two, of course, I jumped at the chance!

Today, we’re talking plants and picture frames.

I made this farmhouse mason jar planter after picking up a thrift store frame {have I mentioned my love affair with thrift stores? I’m obsessed.} for five bucks! It was solid wood and in great shape. I knew I wanted to do something with mason jars because….hello, who doesn’t love them? Spring was in the air, so I wanted to incorporate some greenery into the project. Given my horrible black thumb, one would think I’d go for some faux plants. Nope, we went full in and au naturel.

Can I let you in on a little secret? I’m currently running at a 50 percent kill rate for all living plants in my house. We have two black labs that I’ve managed to keep alive for several years now {despite their efforts to eat poison, chocolate, tea and other unmentionables}, but give me a succulent and I’m at a loss.

Needless to say, this DIY works for real and faux plants. It’s super easy to make AND looks great hanging up or leaning on a table against the wall.
