Decorate your front porch for fall with a mix of pinks, purples, and magentas. Yes, fall porch decor can include cool colors, too!
The landscaping for our modern-cottage home is primarily filled with pink and purple blooms. Therefore, it only seems fitting, that our fall porch decor would feature similar hues.
So often we think that autumn porch decor has to be orange and yellows, but that’s just not the case. You can easily mix in purple and pink mums, even if you have orange pumpkins on your front steps!
Fall Porch Decor with a Black Front Door
I’ll admit, our black front door makes swapping out front porch decor easy. As a neutral, the black door blends with traditional orange and yellow fall decor, pink and purple autumn decor, or any other seasonal color palette.
While I didn’t select a black door simply for it’s versatility, it is a nice bonus. We chose black to pair with our dark gray-green board and batten siding. It felt a little boring to select a black door, but I’ve come to love it.

Pink, Purple, and Magenta Mums
Funny story: I buy mums with buds – as opposed to blooms – so that there is a longer blooming period while the mum is on the porch. Typically, I can tell what color the mums will be by looking at some of the buds that are near-blooming. In this case, I thought I bought the same color mums.
Clearly, I was wrong.
Rather than 2 soft purple/pink mums, I ended up with a warmer magenta mum, too. Oh well! Thankfully, the planters – filled with deep magenta cordyline and purple coral bells – make it feel intentional.
Fall Porch Decor with Orange Pumpkins
Yes, I love white, gray, and green pumpkins, too. They’ve been all the rage for years, and I’m on board with that. Unfortunately, my pocketbook is not.
As much as I’d love to fill my fall porch to the brim with white pumpkins, it’s just so much more affordable to use orange pumpkins.
So, instead of creating a soft color palette with the pumpkins themselves, I choose to pull in softer tones with florals and a fall basket wreath. Then, I add an array of orange pumpkins in clusters around each mum. Easy, and inexpensive!
