Mid-Year Update: Home Renovation Plan

It’s been about 6 months since I shared our renovation plans for 2016… and, well, things have changed. I’ve been quiet around here, only posting a couple of times in the last few weeks. Some of that is due to a more, relaxed summer schedule; but mostly it’s because we are selling our home.

Yep, my husband is searching for a job and we live in a tough market. We don’t actually know where we are moving just yet — but we wanted to get our home on the market quickly. We’ve been working like crazy for the last two weeks, it was listed on Wednesday, and we are having an Open House this weekend.

Mid-Year Update: Home Renovation Plan

With all that being said, the renovations are “done” — not necessarily as I envisioned — but “complete” in a way that it is move-in ready for a buyer. Depending on how long it takes to sell, I may still work on a few of the finishing touches… because it’s fun!

#1 Guest Bath: 100% COMPLETE

Plan for Bathroom includes navy cabinetry, marble counters, gold and oil-rubbed bronze finishes and grey ceramic floor tile. by @Craftivity

We did finish this project, in full. Here is the Bathroom Renovation reveal, if case you missed it.

To-do

  • Caulk Board & Batten
  • Paint Board & Batten
  • Finish Trim {behind toilet & beside vanity}
  • Install Backsplash
  • Hang Mirror
  • Hang Towel Hooks
  • Hang Art
  • Install Ceramic Floor Tile
  • Install Board & Batten
  • Install Trim
  • Install Vanity Top
  • Remodel Vanity
  • Refinish & Paint Walls

#2 Laundry/Mudroom: 95% COMPLETE

The only project we haven’t completed in this space is adding a shelf above the washer and dryer, which I’d still like to do.

To-do

#3 Master Bedroom: 95% COMPLETE

How to work with small closets // Old homes don't typically have large closets -- even in the Master Bedroom. Check out some other options for storage.

I haven’t hung a full-length mirror in here and was still looking for a second nightstand {I did buy one small nightstand and love it}. However, I am fine with the current black nightstand and probably won’t replace it until we move. I won’t buy a mirror either, since I’ve gotten used to not having one. I’m sure the buyer will be glad to have two less holes in the wall, anyway, right?

To-do

#4 Sunroom {specifically, the Office}: 0% COMPLETE

Sunroom progress striped rug, white sofa, airy curtains

I’d like more closed storage for our office area, but this project will probably be scratched. If I come across something helpful that can move to a new home, I may update small things here and there… but, with moving, it doesn’t make sense to design a custom storage solution for this space.

#5 Backyard: 30% COMPLETE

Backyard project list for 2016

Our trampoline is up, and we still may do a semi-permanent fire pit. If we are here all summer and into the fall, we’d get enjoyment out of a fire pit. Plus, it would be appealing to a buyer.

To-do

  • Trampoline
  • Fire Pit
  • Toy Shed

#6 Deck: 50% COMPLETE

deck before

I’ve done a lot of work out here, though I haven’t shared it on the blog yet. Expect to see a peek in the next few weeks.

To-do

  • Clean, Protect & Stain the Wood
  • Outdoor Bar/Serving Space
  • Play Spaces {sandpit, tool bench, etc.}
  • Add Lighting

#7 Exterior

Exterior progress, dark green shutters -- paint deep charcoal?

We definitely won’t be painting the shutters, but will still replace the porch light with something simple and modern. I’ll be sharing more about our porch and landscaping soon, as well.

To-do

  • Pressure Wash Siding
  • Paint Shutters
  • Replace Light
  • New House Address Sign
  • Paint Rocking Chairs
  • Remove Ivy

We’ve also finished our Entry Way, updated the Kitchen, Breakfast Area and Living room in order to list. So, even though it’s been quiet lately, I’ve got lots to share in the coming weeks… See you soon!

You're an inspiration! I love the headboard and bedroom color, they are both beautiful. We have our whole house to renovate as well but it's been the slowest and most painful process. I am sure you will get a lot of offer, you have done a great job.

Oh my god your house is GORGEOUS!!!! I love everything! I'm so obsessed with that marble/navy mix in the bathroom! And I actually love the color of the shutters - I think some pops of color with pretty flowers will make it pop!! Great post!! xoxo
